Deer energy is both soft, gentle, yet strong and determined. Deer are able to move through life's obstacles with grace, and remain in touch with the inner child and innocence. Deer is related to sensitivity and intuition, and allows one to regenerate through being in touch with your heart.
Deer reminds you to be gentle (with self and others), and may reveal a fresh perspective on old issues. Take advantage on the power of the heart now to reverse and clarify patterns or behaviors no longer serving you.
Deer can also be overly cautious, recognizing it takes time for you to trust someone or feel safe in a new environment. Deer power can assist in this acclimation process, and encourage you to take the time to rest in silence and peace.
In China, the deer is a sign of good luck, happiness, longevity, and fortune. The Hopi, Pueblo, and Zuni artists commonly used deer symbols in artwork.
Deer is connected to the 22nd Gift of Graciousness. "Graciousness means that whatever you do in life, you always consider the feelings of others. The 22nd Gift ensures that you balance your respect of others with a healthy dose of self-respect by not becoming a victim of others emotions. This delicate balance between service and self-love is one who profoundly understands the power of emotional suffering. Because of this, others will look to you for guidance and authority. Above all this is the Gift of living life from a place of deep love and soul." – Richard Rudd, The Gene Keys
"Find your heart again by going among ordinary people, people who you do not know, perhaps who speak another language, so that you must communicate through the oldest language, the language of love. A journey is coming for you – a journey of great love, of laughter and smiles, of reunion and healing. Whether the journey is internal or external, whether it is today or tomorrow, it is the journey into the warmth of your own heart." – Richard Rudd, The Dream Arc
